This is truly an incredible piece of art. It appears to be designed after a Lung from Chinese myth. Also, the hair-like tendrils are a nice traditionalist touch. This appears to be hand-drawn, but it rivals the detail of even high quality images produced using programs like Flash and Photoshop. The catlike paws are intriguing, and stand out well against the aquatic-themed appearance. Speaking of which, the said theme is another amusing touch of authenticity. The tattoo-like markings along the legs, neck and body also seem to counterbalance the silver-and white skin. Lastly, the dreamcatchers on the neck and tail add a small touch of a primal appearance.

9/10 (I can't believe how many of these I'm handing out)

First, I would like to say that this is my first time ever writing a critique!

I am going to try my best for you, Sayu. But please forgive me if I happen to get something wrong! I wish to try and be honest and mention both the positives and negatives, as any meaningful critique should!

Now first of all, I would really like to say that you have absolutely outdone yourself this time! It is easy to see that you spent a lot of time and effort to ensure that the piece truly looks spectacular! I can certainly say, it does the original all the justice that it deserves!

It is especially impressive to look at when I consider that it is traditional art, drawn purely on paper without any form of digital editing. The dragon's body is especially beautiful and smooth. When I look at the feathers, frills and wings it is obvious, that it was drawn with pencil on paper. However, most of the body is such a smooth silvery-white, that I have to look very closely to see the grit of the pencil, and even then it is very faint. I personally find that amazing in a traditional art piece! I would have to say it is my favorite thing about the image!

The next thing is, I realize that you were not drawing your own character here, but that of somebody else. So I started looking for subtle differences that define your re-creation of the character. The only such thing that really stands out are the paws. Instead of the crooked, thinner reptilian-like paw-fingers in the original, you drew them in a style that reminds me more of a cat's paws, although with longer fingers. Your way of drawing paws fits the character wonderfully! It's a great, even if subtle detail that adds a part of your style to the artwork without changing the style or impact of the character in a disruptive way! A few more subtle differences like that would have been nice, I love to see artists add their own touches to a character!

The coloring is great overall, but I can definitely see you stumbled into a bit of trouble here, and that this is most likely where the more difficult parts of your challenge lied.
Overall, the wings and frills are beautiful, though they appear more "flat" when compared to the original, and lack some of that smooth transition and blending between colors. They would have had a much greater impact with more shading and a bit more variety in color tones. But I certainly do NOT mean to say they don't look great! While it is definitely an area that you could improve in, you still did a great job with the coloring overall!

If I have to choose my least favorite parts of the image in order to keep this critique fair and constructive, it would be the feathers and the dragon's ears. Perhaps it is the fault of the scanner and it does the purple color less justice than it should. But the coloring quality of the purple parts just doesn't quite seem to match up to the rest of the image. They seem more "blurred" somehow. They do not have the same defined shape and detail as the rest of the image, and I feel the purple color is too strong and pronounced.
They still do not take away from the overall quality, however! It is only slightly distracting if I focus on looking at them in detail.

Once again, a wonderful job overall Sayu! I am deeply impressed by your skill and commitment as always! I admit that it was difficult to get myself to find negatives about the image, because I always find your art so breathtakingly beautiful. But I feel you will appreciate constructive critique more than mindless praise!

I hope you find the critique informative and fair!

Wow, wirklich sehr genial!
Toll gemacht! :)

vielen vielen dank lupa!!
